I have loved the film version of this for years and finally decided that I needed to sit down and read this。 This is an excellent book and while it is very close to the original film it is still worth reading no matter how well you know the movie。

This one shook me hard。 I currently have a young 1 year old son and even knowing the entire plot of the book ahead of time still rocked me to my cook。 Kings writing feels as if he is speaking from my subconscious。 The tension and inner monologue of the protagonist was something that I felt very close to during this read through。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 This was my first Stephen King book and boy did it leave me shell shocked。 This book features tension building and explosive climaxes。 It is also heartbreaking， which is to King's credit because he went out of his way to create layered characters who would have an emotional connection to readers。 It's initially a slow burn tho， as you get to know the characters， but it picks up the pace with the death and resurrection of Church。 I gave it a 4 star because there were times when it was too much of This was my first Stephen King book and boy did it leave me shell shocked。 This book features tension building and explosive climaxes。 It is also heartbreaking， which is to King's credit because he went out of his way to create layered characters who would have an emotional connection to readers。 It's initially a slow burn tho， as you get to know the characters， but it picks up the pace with the death and resurrection of Church。 I gave it a 4 star because there were times when it was too much of a slow burn and the pace could have been picked up。 Also， King was a master at crafting the smaller horror scenes that included Church， the trips to the semetary and the events in the protagonist's house， which make up like 85% of the whole book。 But I'm not sure how effective the big climatic resurrection and slasher scenes with the protagonist's son were。 Ironically， the book's favorite line "sometimes dead is better" comes back to haunt that character。 But all in all， this book is creepy asf。 。。。more
